The Nozoe Autograph Books

Nine times by E. J. Corey. Five times by Ryoji Noyori. Twelve by Prelog, five by Woodward, almost countless times by Eschenmoser, Hafner and Vogel. And many others, including Grubbs and Lehn, Hoffmann and Herschbach, Wittig and Brown. All these and thousands of other chemists signed Tetsuo Nozoe's autograph books - almost 1200 pages in all - between 1953 and 1994. They wrote poems, drew artistic sketches and their favorite molecules and reactions, all with collegial friendship and good-natured humor.

The Nozoe autograph books are now being published in The Chemical Record in 15 segments - the progress is shown in the status chart at the right. With this wiki-type site, you can follow the chemistry, enjoy the playfulness, and be a detective! Using the links at the right, browse the pages and recognize signatures. Whenever you spot a signature that you recognize, just click the autograph page and enter the data into a sortable and free-access index; see link for instructions at the right. You will enjoy the experience and may be rewarded through various giveaways over the duration of publication!
