The 2015 edition of our pss Showcase looks back on recent successful publications in the physica status solidi journal family. These comprise our Focus issue on Functional Oxides in pss (RRL), an expanding rrl solar series with record efficient CIGS cells, topical special issues on semiconducting oxides, nanomagnetism, ferroic glasses, semiconductor spintronics and computational thermodynamics. We conclude this collection with one of the latest contributions by Physics Nobel Prize winners Isamu Akasaki and Hiroshi Amano.
