Help! Yet Another Major IT Project?!?
The era of data-islands is definitely over. It has long since been essential for data
to be available not only within an institution but also beyond; for example,
for doctors who are involved in treatment within regional networks or groups.
Many countries have presented nationally binding guidelines for patient files already.
Looking at those, one thing becomes clear: the degree of distribution of
medical
data will continue to increase in the future. And the basis for this is provided
by digital files, which require a high degree of digitization within healthcare
facilities.
But who are we telling that to? You probably have your hands full finding safe,
efficient
and economical ways to meet these challenges. It is therefore not surprising
that the prospect of another IT project, such as that of an HCM system,
does not cause a surge of enthusiasm when first heard about. Before you roll your
eyes and wave it off, you should finish reading this chapter and you’ll see that a
good HCM system is over half the battle won for building digital files and being involved
with portals. It does not mean extra work but is part of a modern digitalization
strategy.
