The Application of HCM on the Basis of
a Clinical Case
All theory is dull. That is why we would like to conclude by giving you a fictitious
but realistic case. The process described here reflects the scenario of
a digital world as we hope to experience it more often in the future. Not all
of the steps described here can be attributed exclusively to an HCM system. Some
of them you might already be using with your existing systems in the same or a similar
way. But with the help of an HCM the whole thing turns into a truly seamless
whole. An HCM system is in many places the unifying element that turns individual
work steps into an unobstructed operation.
Nicely Done: HCM in Clinical Application
Frank’s general health is somewhat unstable, to say the least. In recent years, he
has had to go to the hospital several times because of various conditions. His
hospital
of choice is part of a group of hospitals and practices. Now the time has
come once again: Frank needs surgery. Several years ago, the hospital already
implemented an HCM concept tailor-made for the group’s requirements and
adapted the existing IT infrastructure accordingly. Frank’s treatment therefore
runs from start to finish like a well-oiled machine, both in terms of medicine
and process.
The patient checks in
Frank’s physician registers his patient at the hospital and enters the data relevant
for the treatment into the digital case file. Before the patient arrives, a hospital
employee searches for the patients data in the HIS and schedules the admission.
